JOPLIN HS: 3
Joplin scored twice early and once late to edge the Tiger soccer team 3-2 Monday at Joplin. The game was the second attempt to make up from September 2. The Tigers played a strong game after allowing a pair of goals in the first 13 minutes. Down 2-0, the Tigers put heavy pressure on the Joplin defense and broke through in the 29th minute off the foot of Caleb Rodriguez. Less than two minutes later WHS caught Joplin on its heels and tied the game off a header from Chase Holden. Assist touches were credited to Tremayne Watterson and Riley King. It was 2-2 at the half, but Joplin scored the winner with 24:55 remaining. Jon Moore had seven saves in goal and Robert Osborne had a big defensive save late in the second half to keep it in reach for the Tigers.
