Boys Varsity Soccer vs. Hillcrest High School

The Waynesville Tigers were on the road to face another Ozark Conference rival against the Hillcrest Hornets. On an extremely hot September night the Tigers set the tempo of play early. While the Tigers maintained the balance of possession throughout the game they struggled early to connect passes as they adjusted to playing on a faster turf surface. The play of junior Averial Williams, sophomore Sei Fowler, and junior Logan Scheller stood out in midfield as they moved the ball forward and worked to recover the ball defensively. As a result there was a steady stream of scoring opportunities throughout the night.   Senior Faheem Mujahid opened the Tiger scoring in the 11th minute after turning the corner on there center back and slotting the ball into the lower left corner. Mujahid went on to score a hat trick, netting goals at the 12th, and 62nd minutes. Senior Ethan Peterson finally earned his first goal of the season after receiving a pass from Mujahid inside the eighteen

Boys Varsity Football vs. Kickapoo High School

The Tigers faced the Kickapoo Chiefs at Kickapoo in Springfield, Mo on September 16, 2022. The Tigers came up short losing 35 - 8 to the Chiefs. Next week the Tigers travel to Lebanon take on the 4 - 0 Yellowjackets.

Boys Varsity Football vs. Camdenton High School

The Waynesville Tigers hosted the Camdenton Lakers on September 9, 2022. Waynesville played against one of the toughest teams in the conference. They tried their best but Camdenton took the W in a score of 41-8. This wouldn't have been possible without Camdenton's quarterback, Barrett Shore. He consistently managed to get the ball downfield resulting in multiple touchdowns against the Tigers. Don't count the Tigers out though because even when they faced defeat they didn't lose their motivation. Waynesville came back out in the second half of the game putting up their first touchdown which was made by Chase Thomas-Plummer. It was an overwhelming game to watch but the two teams showed good sportsmanship and teamwork. Moving forward to this week the Tigers will be heading to Kickapoo High School to play the Chiefs. 

Girls Varsity Softball vs. Hartville High School

Tuesday evening our lady tigers stepped out on the field determined to take down Hartville. Tuesday evening our lady tigers stepped out on the field determined to take down Hartville. Our offense kicked off in the first inning with Alyssa Hillman and Kendall Kobb making strategic plays to help secure the win. With Emma Ray stepping up on the pitchers mound, Hartville did not stand a chance.  Just over six innings, the Lady Tigers managed to stack up 8 hits, and 9 runs, with only 3 strikes out. Kendall Cobb really showed her skill out on the field with two hits in four at bats. She advanced to three bases, and the Tigers totaled up to 11 stolen bases. The Tigers conquered Hartville, finishing with a score of 9-3. As we congratulate our lady tigers on this win out on the field, be sure to attend their next home game. Thursday at 4:30 pm against the Camdenton Lakers.

Boys Varsity Soccer vs. West Plains High School

The West Plains Zizzers hosted the Waynesville Tigers in the second Ozark Conference soccer game on September 6th. The two teams went head to head with each other resulting in a very fascinating game. Both teams showed high performance, good teamwork, and confidence. This started with the Zizzers trying to make their attack on the Tigers but the Tigers broke away and took over the game. We saw great teamwork and partnership between Waynesvilles own Tyrell Phinn and Faheem Mujahid. Four minutes into the second half Phinn found a gap in the Zizzers' defense as he joined with Mujahid in making a run into the right side of the box leading us to the goal. It wasn’t an easy game for the Tigers because the West Plains goalie did a nice job keeping the game close with good defense. Another highlight of the game was Antwone Fowler who was playing the right center back and later moved to the outside playing his role very well. Boys Varsity Football vs. Glendale High School

It wasn’t just any other Friday night at Waynesville High School August 26, it was the opening night of the 2022 football season. As the time crept closer to the 7 pm  the stands became packed with beach wear clad fans, ready for the first kick off of the year.  This was the first game for head coach Kyle Barkely, at Waynesville and the fans and enthusiasm for the Tigers shown through the curtain of the Glendale Falcons defense. Waynesville and Glendale definitely have some history as rivals. Waynesville has not won a game against Glendale in 13 year, and the Tigers were ready for a fight. Unfortunately the Tigers came up short.    Davin Vernon started off strong with a 3 yard touchdown, making the score 6-0 in the first quarter. Glendale answered with two touchdown passes. Both teams headed to the locker room at half-time to regroup and focus on the best strategy that would end the game with a W. 

Girls Varsity Softball vs. Hillcrest High School

The JV and Varisty Lady Tiger Softball teams added a W against Hillcrest on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at Hillcrest.  The Hillcrest Lady Hornets held the lead until the top of the fifth inning when frosh Riley Grosvenor singled on the very first pitch at bat. This created the opportunity for two Tigers on bases to run home, scoring two and taking the Tigers to their first lead of the game. Two more Tiger batters, freshman Sariah Horsey, and senior Alyssa Hillman got RBI hits to bring the Tigers to a 6 -2 victory over the Hillcrest Lady Hornets.  The W goes to junior Emma Ray for allowing only one hit and two runs over seven innings and striking out 12 batters.  The JV Softball Lady Tigers also won their game, wth a score of 11 -3.
