The Waynesville Tigers hosted the Waynesville Invitational today at PIney Valley Golf Course on Ft. Leonard Wood. The rained out event from Monday the 21st was well worth the wait weather wise as the golfers played in ideal Spring weather.
This tournament is unique in that it is a 6-man format versus a normal 5-man. In our format, each team fields two stroke play players and 2-two man scramble teams. All four scores count for the team total as each team was vieing for first through fourth place and individuals and scramble teams were competing for first through third place medals.
Most of the young Tigers got their first taste of playing in an 18 hole match and now realize how draining the competition can be. Of all my young players, Isaac Brooks was a standout after shooting a 118. This score was the lowest score any of the freshmen have shot this season in their very first 18 hole match. I have been very pleased with his patience and hard work to improve his swing throughout the season.
Waynesville fielded 2 teams with the A team shooting a 371 and the B team shooting a 457. For the A team, Wade Howser and Jacob Morriss both shot 84's. This was Jacob's lowest 18 hole score this season. The team of Fred Boone and Dylan Reynolds carded a 100, and the team of Collin Ronje and Austin Adams shot a 103. The B team was led by Brook's 118 and James Richardson with a 128. The team of Kevin Barrett and Raymond Owens shot a 104 and the team of Kevin Holbrook and Woo Song shot a 107.
