The Waynesville Tiger Golf Team completed its regular season last night with a Quad Meet with School of the Osage, Rolla, and Lebanon High Schools. The match was at Osage National The Links Course and the scoring was terrific as well as the weather. After all four teams endured wind gusts over 30 miles per hour on Monday it was nice to play in 60 degree weather with calm winds on one of the Lakes finest courses.
All the coaches and players agreed that this match was going to be on our future calendars for as long as the schedules will allow. The Tigers have a tremendous tie to the Rolla and Lebanon teams as all the coaches have a great personal relationship and have a mutual agreement to help and support any of our players during a match because we all agree we are here to make everyone better whether you are a Tiger, Bulldog or Yellow jacket.
This was the first look at a links type course for many of my players and they all said they really enjoyed the course and especially the scenery. Lebanon won the match with a team total of 165, followed by Osage 174, Rolla 181, and Waynesville 191. The 191 was the lowest team 9 hole total this season.
Senior Wade Howser led the Tigers with a 40, which was also the match co-medalist with Lebanon's Lawrence Bolin and Hayden Brogdon. Jackson Tetreault carded a nice 41 for his first time around the links course. Other Tiger Scores were Dylan Reynolds 54, Isaac Brooks 56, Kevin Holbrook 58. Holbrook solidified the 5th and final spot on the Tiger roster for both Conference and District matches upcoming in the next two weeks.
The Tiger JV also amassed their best 9 hole scoring this season with a team total 250. The JV results were Rolla with a 208, Osage 212, and Lebanon 226. This match marked the end for the JV player's season. It was nice to see them put together their best effort this season as this should motivate each of them to want to get out and play, play, play during the off season. We have a good nucleus of kids and they have a desire to get better. We play on a terrific course that will make them better if they get out and play and practice the skills they have learned this season.
Individual JV scores: Collin Ronje 61, Alec Chapman 62, Zach Hoyle 63, Dion Shells 69, and Rico Hernandez 64. Freshman Jorge Rios was unable to play due to an illness.
The Tigers will next play at Joplin Monday, April 27 in our Ozark Conference Tournament at the Twin Hills Country Club.
