A very hot sun and and some sloppy ball control cost the Tiger JV soccer team in its 5-2 loss Thursday night at Willard.  The intense heat seemed to bother WHS more than the host team despite several water breaks called by the officials.  The Tigers gave up four second-half goals as they had trouble controlling the ball for a consistent attack and found themselves on their heels defensively. 

Joey Cartwright countered a Willard goal just minutes earlier to tie the game 1-1 midway in the first half, and the score remained there at the break.  But Willard scored twice in the first nine minutes of the second half to set up the win.  Daiya Taba had a nice  goal at the 18:18 mark, but it was too little too late. 

The Tiger JV will host its annual tournament this Saturday at  Anderson Field.  Waynesville will play Kickapoo at 9:30 and Lebanon at 1:30.  Those two teams and Rolla will face off in other action.
