Diamond Kaaihue had a big day Saturday to pace the JV Tigers to the Consolation Bracket title at the Kickapoo JV Soccer Tournament. Kaaihue scored three goals and added an assist as the Tigers rolled Lebanon 4-0 and outlasted Camdenton 1-0 in two overtimes.
Kaaihue assisted Brandon Burkett on an early goal against Lebanon and then found the range with his own foot on two subsequent attacks. Jarrod Parker and Austin Cartwright assisted on those two. The final score for the Tigers came when Jorge Arriaga set up Alex Rodriguez for the shot. Later Saturday, in the fifth place game, the Tigers and Lakers battled back and forth for nearly an hour and a half. Camdenton had beaten WHS 3-0 earlier in the season, but Waynesville would not be denied this time, and it was Kaaihue again who found the net. This time it came off a pass from Parker in the second OT. It was the first time this season the JV had put together back-to-back victories, both shutouts for freshman goalkeeper AJ Gates.
Waynesville found itself in the Consolation Bracket after dropping a 2-1 heart breaker to Republic Friday afternoon. Daiya Taba scored in that game off an assist from Parker.
