After having an entire week of tennis rained out last week, the Tiger Netters finally made it back on the courts tonight, beating West Plains 6-3, and furthering their season record to 9-3. Starting with doubles first, the Tigers fell behind as a team 1-2 right off the bat. David Sneed and Eromo Aligbe took a very quick win of 8-1 at #3 doubles. Courts 1 and 2, however, didn’t quite have the same luck. At #1, Steven Berrios and Derick Anglin started in the lead, but dropped two games in a row and trailed by one the rest of the match, falling in a tight 6-8 loss. On court 2, Tyler Gayman and Cameron Martell had the closest match of the night. Dropping early, this doubles duo had trouble breaking #1 Payton LaFevers’ serve. Losing 1-6 so far, Gayman and Martell pulled ahead with a 6 game winning streak to take the lead. Fighting back and forth for the lead, the #2 Tigers eventually lost 8-9 (7-9) in a close tiebreaker. Fortunately, Waynesville picked up five more wins in singles to overtake their opponent 6-3 as a team. Waynesville Tennis is back on the road Wednesday to take on the Camdenton Lakers before hosting Senior night on Thursday against Osage. The Tigers will be recognizing seven Seniors on Thursday for their hard work and dedication to the Tennis program.
