Despite the rain and flooding on I-44, the Waynesville Tennis team took a detour to Springfield and was blessed with a sunny day and a 4^th place finish overall.  Of the 10 teams in the Conference, the Tigers played Camdenton first, taking a 5-3 over the Lakers.  With all the rain we have had, the team hasn’t had a practice in a long time.  If you want to be competitive in tennis, you need to be hitting tennis balls.  I was worried that a lack of playing time would affect today’s standings.  The Tigers held their own, however, and came out fighting. 

After beating Camdenton, Waynesville went on to play 2^nd seeded Joplin.  Coming out behind 3-5, the Tigers just barely lost to this solid team.  We played them well.  I was very pleased.  Obviously, I was hoping for the win, but I was still very pleased with how the boys played.  Joplin is a good team.  Always has been. 

Next, the Tigers lost to the always-powerful Glendale netters.  Although not the overwhelming powerhouse they usually are, Glendale has still produced some heavy hitters, causing Waynesville to fall 1-6 and ending 4^th overall.

Waynesville Tennis will host the Waynesville Invitational this Friday at the high school and middle school courts.
