Joplin nudged its Ozark Conference mark to four and one, and stayed in the running for a league title, with a 3-1 win over Waynesville in girls soccer Tuesday at Tiger Stadium. The game was much closer than the two-goal difference. Both teams had similar shot counts and corner kick attempts. The game was scoreless at halftime, but WHS lost several scoring chances when attackers weren't there for the crosses. Joplin stormed out in the second half and scored just four minutes in. Another goal came 11 minutes later, but Elizabeth Sisson gave the Tigers hope when she curved a corner kick into the far side net. However, Joplin bounced right back with another quick goal to settle things. The Tigers had several of their injured players back for the game, but goalkeeper D'Anna Hasik was ill. Freshman Ashton Pilz played very well while filling in during her first varsity start.
