Springfield Central scored in the first half and benefited from an off-night by Waynesville for a 1-0 win in the championship of the Class 4 District 9 girls soccer tournament Wednesday night at Central. Central scored on a nice header off a direct kick in the game's fifteenth minute. WHS played the game with three players on the bench via concussions and the Tigers just never managed sustained possessions. Waynesville's passing was off during the whole game and an energized Bulldog squad beat the Tigers to the ball throughout the second half. Still, a second place in district was a milestone many didn't expect when the team started the season 3-13. WHS went 5-4-1 down the stretch.
