The Waynesville Tigers picked up their first win of the season against Hillcrest. We had several great matches, and it was so good to see all our hard work is paying off. Lindzie King's (soph.) and Paige Massey's (sr.) doubles match was a nail biter. These girls had me on edge throughout the whole match, but pulled through with a 7-5 win over their opponent. Missing one of our Varsity players in this match, we had to rearrange our other two doubles lineups. Despite having never played together before, Jessica Goodson (jr.) and Emaily Martin (jr.) worked as a team in a 6-4 win.

In singles play, first-seeded Lindzie King took her win, 6-4. After being a game behind most of the match, Lindzie proved to be the more persistant player, taking the last three games for the win. Kaitlynn Wagner played a smart game, running her opponent into the ground, leading 6-3. Mollie Henry dominated her opponent, 6-2, and Emaily Martin won in her first ever Varsity match, 7-5. Emaily has made amazing improvements this year. I've had the honor of watching Emaily's progress from her first time trying tennis to where she is today. As a coach, seeing that progress is one of the greatest gifts of the job.

The Tigers have a busy week this week, taking on West Plains at home on Tuesday and Helias on the road in a make-up match on Friday. The Varsity squad will then compete in the Rolla Doubles Tournament on Saturday.
