CAMDENTON R-3 HIGH SCHOOL : 1

Waynesville Tennis had another great night on the courts taking Camdenton 8-1.  Tonight was a big game and one I have been looking forward to all season.  Camdenton is both a Conference and District level opponent, and this win will help us out a lot when it comes to team seedings in the post-season.  Falling to Camdenton the last three years, with last year’s match being a shut out 0-9 finish, and the year before, a 2-7 finish, I really wanted to upset the Lakers this year.  And, that’s exactly what the girls came out to do. I’d have to say one of the greatest matches of the night was down on court 6 as Chloe Trusty fought her way out of a tiebreaker for the final win over Camdenton.  Chloe’s entire match was close.  She took the lead by two games at one point and really started to gain momentum for a moment before dropping three in a row.  Coming to an 8-8 tie, Chloe had to face her Laker opponent in an always-close tiebreaker.  Fighting back and forth for the lead, Chloe pulled out a 7-5 tiebreaker victory, ending the match 9-8 (7-5).  That wasn’t Chloe’s only excitement for the night, however.  Just moments before, she and her partner, Helene Houston, took a close win in doubles as well.  Trailing the whole first part of the match, the girls were struggling to adjust to the breeze that holds so unusual for girl’s season.  The girls warmed up to the situation though and learned how to use it to their advantage, putting them back in the offensive.  This Tiger duo ended their doubles match with a great come back, finishing 8-6.  The Tigers have their first little break from match play in weeks with our next competition not being held until Thursday.  We will face West Plains at the WMDS courts at 4 as we honor our seven Seniors.
