HELIAS CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL: 9
Tiger Tennis had a rough night tonight as they took the road to Helias. Finishing 0-9, Helias brought the heat in their typical fashion. Starting off with doubles, the girls really played well with this private Catholic team, but definitely struggled in their singles round. Lindzie King and Mollie Henry took the lead early, but Helias didn’t allow that lead to stick as the Waynesville duo lost 3-8. At #2 doubles, Mykaela Baze and Ryhia Stevenson had the closest match of the night. Mykaela really dominated the net tonight. Every time I looked over to their court, she was putting away a winner at net. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough as Helias snuck past 5-8. On court 3, we had a change of lineup. Klementyna Cichocki won a challenge match in practice this week, putting her at the #6 spot on Varsity. Tonight was her first night playing at this level, and therefore, her first night playing with Helene. It always takes awhile to adjust to this new level of play. It’s even harder to adjust to a new partner, especially considering the fact that this is the first time Helene has had a different doubles partner than Chloe Trusty in two years. It takes a long time to adjust to that new dynamic. Helias took that win 3-8.
Tomorrow, the Varsity Tennis squad will compete in the Rolla Doubles Tournament before traveling to the Springfield Invitational on Tuesday. The JV team will not compete again until next Friday at the Lebanon JV Tournament.
