Waynesville walked away with two team wins tonight against Hillcrest and Parkview.  Starting with Hillcrest, the Tigers came out to steal all three matches in doubles first thing.  Kristen Sneed and Blaire Smith started their doubles match in a close battle with their opponents. Leading 5-4, the Tiger duo picked up the pace and won three straight matches for an 8-4 victory.  Vashti Hernandez played a tough match against an abnormally strong #5 player.  Playing a foreign exchange student from Japan, this Hillcrest Hornet has grown a lot in her game and proved to be a tough opponent to Hernandez.  Vashti fought hard and played well, but unfortunately ended short with a 1-8 loss. Hitting deuce nearly every game, she just couldn’t pull off the win in the no ad format.  Ending 7-2 as a team overall, the Tigers then went on to face the Parkview Vikings.  

Starting strong in doubles once again, the Tigers won all three matches before moving on to singles.  Walking into our singles matches with three wins under our belt definitely makes a match less stressful.  Only dropping one singles match, the Tigers took an 8-1 victory over Parkview. Alexuz Pesantemercado played the quickest matches of the night and was personally named Most Spirited by the opposing coach. Alexuz works hard to constantly improve and commonly asks how she can improve as a player.  No matter the score, Alexuz always has a smile on her face.  In a mind game like tennis, this is a great quality to exhibit. 

The Tigers will hit the court again on Monday at home as they face the Rolla Bulldogs on Senior Night.
