A packed gymnasium was on hand Tuesday night to see Waynesville and Rolla in a quick rematch of the Rolla Holiday Tournament championship game, but the anticipated close battle never materialized as the Tigers used big second and fourth quarters to rout the Bulldogs in Ozark Conference action, 74-46 on Tiger Court.
Class five eighth-ranked Waynesville had beaten the Class four fourth-ranked Bulldogs by a dozen a week ago, but the Tigers totally outclassed their traditional rivals in the conference game.
The Tigers broke open a three-point game by scoring the first three baskets of the second quarter, and with the help of six points off the bench from Rashad Swanson stretched the bulge to 38-27 at halftime. They upped it to a 16 point lead after three, and made it a 20-point spread off an early fourth quarter field goal by Austin Bogle and a pair of free throws by Reggie Walker. At that point, Rolla had no answer.
Juwan Morgan led all scorers with 21 points. Joe Johnson added 18 and Cedric Williams 11 as WHS ran its O.C. record to two and oh and its overall mark to ten and one.
The Tigers will host St. Louis Carnahan Saturday. The game times have been changed to 5:00 for the JV and 6:30 for the Varsity.
