After 24 hours of serious work with WHS trainer Cheryl Cawley, senior forward Juwan Morgan felt as if he could play Friday and took the court against Bentonville, Arkansas in the consolation round of the Bass Pro Tournament at Missouri State University. Injured during a collison the previous day, Morgan played 27 minutes and scored the game’s first basket. But he was favoring his right leg at times and Bentonville junior Malik Monk continued to be the tournament’s star with a strong 21 point, 12 rebound performance that dominated Waynesville 47-28. (Monk would go on to score 97 points in the tournament and also win the slam dunk contest.)
Bentonville led only 20-17 at halftime, but the final sixteen minutes were a nightmare for the Tigers as they made only four of 24 field goal attempts, including misses on all seven three-point shots. Morgan, game throughout, led the Tigers with 7 points and 7 rebounds.
