Lady Tiger center Callie Bildner did all she could, but couldn’t find any scoring help as Waynesville lost a 54-45 decision to Union in Saturday’s Route 66 Shootout. Bildner scored all eleven of her team’s fourth quarter points, but Union countered each time for the win. Bildner finished the night with 25 points and 17 rebounds. Her final basket represented her 1,000th career point. Coach Brittany Matlock presented her with the game ball at midcourt after the game.
Union opened the game with a ten-oh run which was quickly countered by the Lady Tigers and it was 15-15 after the first quarter. WHS went up by one at halftime, but Union used a 16-9 third quarter to grab the lead for good.
In the other girls’ Shootout game, undefeated Columbia Rock Bridge shook off a pesky Republic team in the second half and went on to a 64-44 win. Mizzou signees Sophie Cunningham and Cierra Porter put on a show for the fans. Cunningham scored 31 and Porter had 19 points and 10 rebounds.
