Waynesville and visiting Lebanon went toe-to-toe in a defensive struggle Monday, but the JV Tigers claimed an exciting 8-7 victory on the legs of quarterback Trey Eaddy. Trailing 7-0 early in the fourth quarter, and frustrated offensively most of the night, the Tigers dented the scoreboard when Eaddy broke free on a third down play and raced 78 yards down the right sideline. Still down by one, WHS lined up for the two-point conversion and Eaddy lofted a nice pass to Jacob Saylor in the left part of the end zone. Saylor was double teamed, but went up to snare the ball and the winning points.
The Tiger defense came up big throughout the game, sacking the Lebanon quarterback six times. In the final minutes, Lebanon drove down field and reached the Tiger 26 with the help of three first downs. The Jackets went to the air twice, both times with receivers at the goal line, but Tiger defenders Saylor and Brendan Finch defended tightly to break up the plays. Then, on fourth and three from the 26, Lebanon's Cody Lundgren was sacked the final time by Nolan Logsdon to secure the Tiger win. The Tiger JV is now 1-1 on the season.
