Senior Shane Jewett broke the school single-game record with six goals Monday night and the Tiger soccer team destroyed Camdenton 10-0 under the mercy rule in opening round action at the Lebanon Class Three District Tournament. The ten team goals also tied a school record accomplished seven times previously.  It was the most lopsided defeat WHS ever handed its Camden County neighbors.

Jewett scored early with a breakaway off of a nice through-ball from Chase Holden.  He added another one four minutes later on a header off of Vince Houston's corner kick.  Holden scored just nineteen seconds later after the Tigers stole the Camdenton kickoff and he hurried down the left side for a shot inside the far post.  Just two minutes later Tremayne Watterson made a nice throw-in  to Roberto Bachelor on the right side.  Bachelor shoved it in the middle to Jewett who completed his first hat trick.  At that point it was 4-0 Tigers just 12:20 into the game.  Midfielder Caleb Rodriguez then joined the fun with a pair of goals before halftime.

Jewett blew by the Laker defense with the opening kickoff of the second half and scored just 18 seconds after the whistle.  The Lakers fought back and managed a couple of shots on goal before the Tigers put an end to their misery.  Jewett's fifth goal came on a touch off of Logan Long's 40 yard free kick, and he broke the record off another assist from Holden.  Bachelor ended the blowout with 18:37 remaining when, after a corner kick, he followed up his own blocked shot with another in the back of the net.

The Tigers had sixteen shots on goal and ten corner kicks in the lopsided win.  Next up is sixth ranked Jefferson City, which beat Lebanon 4-0 on Monday.  Game time is five p.m. Thursday in Lebanon.  Waynesville, in its 25th year of boys soccer, is seeking its first district championship.
