HILLCREST HS (VARSITY ONLY): 0
Take that Hillcrest! Waynesville ripped the host Hornets 10-0 in a mercy rule makeup soccer game Monday afternoon in Springfield. The game was meant to be played August 26, but Hillcrest sent its players home an hour before the game during a brief shower. Yesterday, the Tigers put an end to things 13 minutes into the second half, dispensing with Hillcrest in less time than it took to drive down to the Queen City.
Junior forwards Chase Holden and Caleb Rodriguez each finished with a hat trick in leading the Tiger attack. In fact, both had their hat tricks in the first half, which ended with a 9-0 lead. Holden added a trio of assists and Rodriguez picked up one. Other first half goals were scored by Austin Bogle, Diamond Kaaihue, and Terry Tennard. Hunter ball picked up an assist.
Alberto Reyes put an end to the Hornet misery by scoring with 27:12 remaining off of one of Holden's passes. For the game, Waynesville took 41 shots, with 22 of them on goal. The Tigers host West Plains in Ozark Conference play today at Anderson Field.
