Waynesville shook off its first soccer loss of the season by coming from behind to beat Ozark Conference foe Parkview 4-1 Monday in Springfield.  The win boosted the Tigers to five and oh in conference play.

While the Tigers dominated the game early, it was Parkview which struck first by taking advantage of a Waynesville error.  On one of its few first-half trips down field the Vikings benefited from a misplay when the Tiger defense tried to clear the ball.  The ball wound up at the feet of Parkview's Gustavo Cruz and with Tiger keeper Jon Moore leaning to his left, Cruz found the opposite side net.  Later in the first half Parkview made an unusual goalkeeper switch and the Tigers responded fifty seconds later when Chase Holden placed a perfect direct kick over the shorter sub's head.  1-1 at half.

The second half was all Tigers.  Caleb Rodriguez started it off in the sixth minute.  After taking possession  with his back to the goal, Rodriguez spun a one-eighty and shot the ball past the returned starting goalkeeper.  Rodriguez was in the middle of the next goal scoring opportunity too.  Holden lined up for another direct kick after a Viking foul, but instead of shooting this one, he slid a short pass left to Rodriguez who took the shot.  The blast was tipped away by the keeper, but not cleared far enough.  Riley King one-touched it past the fallen defender for a 3-1 lead.  The game fell into a rhythm of attacks and counter attacks after that, but King and Holden hooked up again with just 1:08 remaining.  King made a deep throw-in inside the box and Holden headed it in for the final nail in the coffin.  The win was the fourth in a row over Parkview and gives WHS a twelve to eleven edge on the Vikings in the long series.

At five and oh the Tigers are all alone in first place in the O.C., but the record is a bit deceptive.  If they want to challenge for a conference title they must now run the gauntlet of stalwarts Glendale, Rolla, Joplin and Kickapoo.  That stretch begins with Glendale on Wednesday at Anderson Field.  A big crowd would be nice.
