TIGERS: 2
SPRINGFIELD CENTRAL HS (VARSITY ONLY): 1

Junior forward Chase Holden scored twice in an unbelievable ten-second time span to lift the Tiger soccer team to a difficult 2-1 win over host Springfield Central Friday afternoon.  The Tigers struggled through a scoreless opening half in the first cold and windy game of the season.  But they were able to shake off the sluggishness early in the second half.  WHS took five shots in the first ten minutes, but it was Holden who found the net right-footed off a pass from Caleb Rodriguez with 29:40 left.  The Tigers quickly stole Central's kickoff and ten seconds later Holden used his left foot for the second tally.  Central scored with nine minutes left, but it would be the Bulldogs last shot of the game.

The Tigers raised their record to 11-3 on the season.  They have four very difficult games this week beginning with Monday's makeup at Joplin.  The Tigers host Kickapoo on Tuesday and travel to Rock Bridge on Thursday.  Then, Saturday morning, they host Fort Zumwalt East in the first meeting between the two schools.

The Central game was added to the schedule after MSHSAA district assignments were released.  Waynesville and Central will join Lebanon and Parkview at the Parkview District.  The Tigers have now defeated all three district opponents in the regular season.
