Those in attendance Tuesday night saw a fast, hard-played soccer game at Anderson Field, but visiting Kickapoo escaped with a narrow 1-0 win.   Both teams were seeking their sixth win in Ozark Conference play and Kickapoo's powerful offense kept pressure on Waynesville all night.  But the Tiger defense responded with a great effort.

Kickapoo scored in the game's 34th minute and then the Tiger defense really stiffened.  Goalkeeper Jon Moore recorded a season-high 13 saves, including several nice dives wide.  At one point, Moore went to his knees and blocked two close-in shots to the upper body following a long free kick.  With 5:56 remaining and the Chiefs applying heavy pressure for an insurance score,  defender Tremayne Watterson raced from out of nowhere to clear a loose ball from crossing the line.  Waynesville's best opportunity came in the 13th minute of the second half when forward Caleb Rodriguez connected with the crossbar.

The Tigers slipped to 11-5 on the season and finished 5-4 in the O.C. Kickapoo advanced to 14-3 and 6-1.  The two Class 4 opponents are in different districts and could face each other again in the post season.
