JEFFERSON CITY HS: 6
With two defensive starters sidelined due to injuries the Tiger soccer team expected an uphill battle against the powerful Jefferson City Jays, and that's just what they had in a 6-1 loss Thursday night at Tiger Stadium. Goal keeper Jon Moore and defensive back Tremayne Watterson were unable to suit up for the game and Coach Mike Armstrong had to juggle his lineup to face the Jays. Junior Jacob Woodward made his first career start in goal and had four good saves on the night, but the Jays' attack was just too much. The Jays led 3-0 at the half and were up 6-0 when Chase Holden shoved a perfect through ball between the J.C. defenders. Caleb Rodriguez grabbed it with a quick touch move and slid past the Jays last defender for a sweet breakaway goal. WHS concluded its regular season with a 14-8 record. It's the thirteenth consecutive year that the Tigers have finished with double figures in the win column. The Tigers face Parkview in district action at five Tuesday at Parkview.
