In its first important matchup of the young season, Waynesville came up short with a 3-1 soccer loss to Springfield Central Friday night at Anderson Field.  The game was significant because it paired two district opponents.  Though early in the season, it may have a strong bearing on the district seedings at the end of October.  The Tigers won the district last year.

Central led 1-0 at halftime and added two more goals in the final 40 minutes.  Waynesville’s sole score came on an unassisted shot by Caleb Rodriguez.  The Tigers return to Ozark Conference play on Tuesday when they host Joplin with a 4:30 JV start.
