Waynesville's scoring slump continued Tuesday with a 7-0 loss at Kickapoo in its Ozark Conference finale. The Tigers have not scored since September 21 and have lost six straight, being outscored 19-0 in that stretch. Senior forward Caleb Rodriguez returned to play from an injury sustained at Nixa on September 17, but the Chiefs were simply too much for the Tigers.
Kickapoo sits atop the O.C. with a perfect 7-0 record and another conference title in its plans. Junior Ian Hansen led the way with a hat trick. Kickapoo led 3-0 at halftime and showed no mercy in the second half, even stealing the ball at midfield and scoring on a long dribble-drive with just 48 seconds remaining in the game.
Waynesville's best scoring opportunity came with 3:34 left off the foot of Rodriguez, but the Chief goalkeeper collapsed on the ball at the goal line. WHS finishes its O.C. schedule with a 6-3 record, which should be good for fourth place at season's end.
