Waynesville rallied late, but came up just short and lost 3-2 to Class 2 10th-ranked Springfield Catholic Tuesday night at Slaughter Field.  The Tigers received big goals from senior Caleb Rodriguez with twelve and four minutes to go to push the Irish to the limit.  Catholic took the lead in the game's fifth minute and shocked WHS with another goal just a minute into the second half.  But it was a penalty kick with 28:14 remaining that proved to be the winning goal.  Waynesville had two  close opportunities in the  waning moments.  With 2:35 left a cross from Hunter Ball sailed just high above the open Tigers.  And with 1:30 remaining, Brandon Hoffman's header sailed high.  The loss was Waynesville's ninth in a row and tied the school's second longest winless streak, a mark that goes back to 1992.
