Tigers Lose: 4 - 6
Opening day came Friday as we took on the Willard Tigers at home. It was a very exciting game. Unfortunately, we came up short losing 4-6. Ethan Gatzemeyer hit a 3 run home run in the 3rd to put us up 3-1. In the top of the 4th Willard was able to hit a grand slam reclaiming the lead 3-5. After a weather break of about 45 minutes between the top and bottom of the 4th the game resumed. We had a few more opportunities to get back in the game. In the bottom of the 4th we scored one run on an Ochoa single but on the same play Tanner Simpson was thrown out at the plate which would have been the tying run at that time. Willard was able to score a run on a sac fly in the top of the 7th to extend their lead to 4-6. In the bottom of the 7th we were able to get our leadoff in the inning on (Colin Crockett) by walk. After a wild pitch advancing Colin, Tanner Simpson grounded out to the right side which advanced Colin to 3rd. Noah Ochoa walked putting the tying run on with 1 out. However, we were not able to capitalize from there.
JV won 3-0
Our next game is Tuesday at home vs Marshfield.
